Meeting Stan Kass

Tonight we were so grateful to be able to meet Stan Kass.  He is the generous man who will be paying for the care of Sunny.  A close friend of mine, Becky Jackson invited our family, Stan Kass, and his son over for Sunday dinner.  We enjoyed a wonderful night getting to know him and also his dog Reggie.  We are going to be able to help Stan out by walking Reggie once a week.  I am thrilled that we will be able to become a part of this wonderful man's life.  What a blessing!

Getting ready for Sunny!

Today we took the kids to the Humane Society in Milwaukee. It was so fun! I was really impressed with how nice it was set up and how clean and quiet it was. They are going to help us get ready for Sunny to come. We are going to take classes there on how to care for a dog, the boys are going to earn a dog care merit badge there, and we are going to volunteer there. :-) We are really excited to start making these wonderful pets a part of our life. I am also thrilled that we are finding a small way to give back by volunteering there. :-) WooHoo!

Pop to Stop Addison's Disease

Our family sells these cool Pop Top Necklaces to raise money to help those suffering with life threatening Addison's Disease. Our children design and produce this fun jewelry to honor the short life of their very sweet and cool brother Joshua.

This is my wonderful friend, Eliza, who son's life was cut short by Addison's disease. Her family in turn is helping other families. She did this great fundraiser to help my son, Nathan. I am sooooo grateful to have friends like this.

Sunny begins his training

Sunny has now started his training.  He is being trained by Ed Peeples in Las Vegas.  We are so excited to see him progress.  Here he is with his brother Jack (Sunny is the lighter dog).  They look like they are having a blast!  Love it.

Poem for Nathan and Sunny

James Moser (A friend from Payson Utah)
ok, wanted to make a little poem, to the tune of "fresh prince of bel-air" maybe a little smile will help loosen up some wallets....

Now this is the story all about how;
Nathan Hatch had things switched around;
and I’d like to take a minute;
...
just sit right there;
I’ll tell you how you can help Nathan stay fair;

In Payson Utah, where Nathan played;
The Hatchs made friends here while enjoyin’ their days;
Chillin’ out maxin’ relaxin’ and all cool;
and all havin’ fun with his friends from school;
When Nathan felt sick, he was not feelin’ good;
Doctors doin’ tests on this boy’s blood;
so much time in hospitals, family and friends got scared;
They all kept him in their hearts and said lots of prayers.

Nathan has Addison’s, that alone requires care;
He’s also diabetic, now you know why it’s a scare;
Keeping Nathan healthy, there is no room for error;
and that is why we help this family in despair

We; can; help get a puppy with skills much greater;
this pooch will keep Nathan’s health stay straighter;
but it takes a bit o’ money, to get this pup with gold hair;
please make a donation, I know that you care.

Sunny, how did he get his name?

Nathan took a lot of time thinking of a name for Sunny.  When he saw the pictures of him he thought Sunny looked golden like the sun.  He also loved that Sunny was smiling in one of his pictures.  Nathan thought he looked happy and that he had a sunny personality.  He had thought of the perfect name to match our dog.  Now we all get to wait and watch as sunny gets trained and ready to join our family.  It is hard to wait because we love him already.  :-)
